How To Raise a Boy…
to Become a Man.
Joe Martin of RealMenConnect.com spells out for us why we need to raise our boys differently. So often the examples of how men should act are taken from a celebrity influence. But what if you were to seek out honest, respectable men to mentor your son? What if the men your son was around never talked bad about women, helped each other, and worked hard at being “great” people?
So often the examples of how men should act are taken from a celebrity influence which is far from what most of us consider good men.
But what if you were to specifically seek out honest, respectable men to mentor your son?
What if the men your son was around never talked bad about women, helped each other, and worked hard at being “great” people?
If Children are a Direct Reflection of Their Community…
then we had better make sure that our community of men gathers together, loves and supports each other in their marriages and lifts each other up.
In This Episode, You Will Learn.
♦ That boys need men to teach them how to be men. That it is important that your son has a great mentor.
♦ That pride is what keeps most men from asking help and becoming better people.
♦ Men need three types of men in their lives.
1. A mentor, someone older and wiser, has made the mistakes and can show you how to avoid them.
2. A peer that is a good person and will speak the truth even though you don't want to hear it.
3. Someone to lead or be a mentor to. Someone that is looking up to you and watching how you act and is learning from you.
♦ If you don't have great men in your life that can mentor your son find one.
♦ Look for that mentor like you are looking for a job. Watch the men at work, in your Church or community. How they treat the women around them, how they talk.
♦Teach your son to find mentors for himself. To humble himself and ask for help.
♦ When you are out with your kids point out the good qualities you see in men. “That was a very honest thing he did. Why was that honest?”
♦ Give your son book on how to be a great man or books written by great men. Read them yourself so you can talk about with them.
