106: Hot Head Parenting Confessions
I Have a Confession, I have an Anger Problem
I am a hot head in the worst way. I have never been able to control my anger problem and when I became a mom, that's when it became a real issue.
Since I have a parenting podcast, interview parenting experts and read all the parenting books you would think that I would have this parenting thing down to a science. Well, I'm here to tell you that I am far from a perfect mom. I yell, I scream and when my kids say they hate me and want a different family I drift into a dream world where for that short sweet moment, these kids belong to someone else.
I know that how I respond to these tantrums is how I will teach my kids to deal with their anger. I was failing.
I have always been a strong woman and would never spend any time with people that verbally or physically assault me. If someone was disrespectful to me they were out of my life in a flash. So nasty sharp, hurtful remarks go right to my bones and send fire out my ears. No matter how much I read about parenting and child development I couldn't control my anger problem…until now.
In this episode, I share my parenting shift that I have worked SOO hard to make. I was able to stay completely calm and in control while my child pushed all of my buttons at the same time. Something I have never been able to do before.
A couple of months ago I started Parenting Coaching. After just one session I made the shift to becoming the parent I have always wanted to be. I was no longer getting angry, and honestly not enjoying my kids. We are now having fun, our issues still come up but they are short lived and they no longer affect me the way they once did.
If you are also a “Hot Head” parent and have an anger issue that just won't go away…I can tell you first hand that the only thing that has worked for me is Parenting Coaching.
But, I will say… If you want a quick fix or think that in order for you to deal with your anger problem that “other people” need to change…this is NOT for you. If you don't want to do the work this is NOT for you.
But if you want to do the work on yourself… do yourself and family a favor and just talk to a Parenting Coach (for free) and get started today. I give you my word of honor that you will not regret it.
Good luck to all of you fellow hot head parents!
